Operation I.D. is a nationwide effort to reduce property theft through an identifications system by marking your possessions with an identifying number or mark. This helps deter theft and helps ensure your items will be returned to you if they're stolen and recovered by police. To participate, stop by Public Safety in the Kimbrough Building to borrow an engraver free of charge to mark your items of value. You can also obtain a free inventory log that you can use to organize important information on your items of value. You take the log home, log your items, and then keep the log in a safe place. In the event of theft, fire damage, or other incident where you need to make a claim to your insurance company for item replacement, your information is already there ready to be given to the insurance company.
This service is free of charge, so help protect yourself and your property! Stop by Public Safety to borrow an engraver or get an inventory list.
